SOCHUM

Hello delegates!

A hearty welcome to the United Nations Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee. Allow us to introduce ourselves- Maithili Matey (Director) and Shashini Deenadayalan (Assistant Director)- and we will be staffing as your Dais for this year.

I, Maithili, have been to two MUNs prior to this and Shashini has been to three. Her very first MUN experience was at the ISMMUN 2017 as the delegate of Jordan to the DISEC, and it was very amusing and exhilarating. (Frankly speaking, her country had no role with that particular issue, but she ended up being a verbal mention).

Being a delegate is baffling. You don’t how to proceed once you’ve gotten your country. But don’t worry. That is what MUN does to you. It brings out the best in you. Shashini and I will be here to help you get through every little obstacle of this journey. We are excited and are looking forward to a great session with all the delegates and hope to make your MUN experience as memorable, exciting and informative as possible.

“I believe that children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way.” -Whitney Houston.

We are the future of our nation. We are the great leaders of tomorrow. We can make the world a better place. We have the power to choose a new course.

Keeping these thoughts in mind is precisely how we want the MUN session to proceed. We want each one of you to believe that there is something in you that can make a difference, that once your voice is heard, it will bring a drastic change for good.

Being a first-time experience of DAIS, we hope that this conference offers to provide as a learning experience for both you and I. So, delegates let us kick start and yes, make an attempt to bring SOCHUM the Best Committee Award!
