G20
DIRECTOR
My first experience with MUN was in the 9th grade when ISMMUN was an experiment of sorts. I wouldn’t have joined, if it weren’t for my friend who practically forced me to take part. I’m so incredibly glad she compelled me too.

My first MUN session, I felt too scared to say anything but watching other delegates debate and defend themselves made me feel motivated and I thought to myself “When MUN happens again I’m going to argue my points and impress everyone!”

When ISMMUN 2018 came, I took part and managed to win the Best Delegate award in ECOFIN. A few months later, I got an offer to become part of the dais of ISMMUN 2019. I was given the honour of becoming the AD of G20. I was able to learn so much from my Director and the Sec. Gen.

When the day of session came I was a nervous wreck but seeing my delegates argue passionately made me swell with pride. At the end of MUN, when G20 was called out as the best committee, I felt such a colossal amount of sheer delight and pride for the committee I was almost moved to tears.

This year; yet again, I have been bestowed the honour to become the director of G20. MUN has been such a life-changing event, for shy- introverted me this has acted as a great confidence booster. And I hope it can affect you delegates the same way it did for me.

The MUN was something that I didn’t know about in early 2017, but as my 9 th grade progressed and we reached the month of June where we were told about a new initiative by the school, “The MUN”. At first, it didn’t really seem like my type of activity, which most of you may feel, but at the end of the conference it was one of the best experiences of my high school life, I had no prior experience in the MUN so I had to work extra hard, but at the end of the day I secured the BEST DELEGATE(ISMMUN-2017) position for the committee UNHCR.
In 2019, I went on to participate again in the ISMMUN-2019 which was a very challenging committee session for me (went on to win the HONORABLE DELEGATE award); for this session I was representing The United States of America in SPECPOL. There were debates, clashes of ideas and what not but the knowledge that only 2 committee sessions had provided me with was extremely enlightening, and without even realizing I had come to love the concept of the Model United Nations.
In 2020, I participated in the TECHFEST WORLD MUN, IIT BOMBAY, this session was a very long 3-day journey which was unforgettable because of the sleepless nights of researching and getting ready for topics, counters, and resolutions, there was an all-round development in my organization skills, which I assure you will notice as well after attending the MUN. I went on to win the SPECIAL MENTION award in this session, not only did I gain knowledge about the world as a whole but also made new friends, made memories, had the most memorable debates in the MUN. Thank you for reading my experience with the MODEL UNITED NATIONS and I hope this will be a memorable session for every single one of you.
