ECOFIN
Dear delegates,

The Dais extends you a warm welcome to the Economic and Financial Affairs Council committee in ISM MUN 2020. In a world where the poor can’t access basic financial services and with over 80% of the humanity living on lesser than 10 dollars a day, ECOFIN plays an important role in effectively tackling corruption, trafficking, tax evasion and regulating microfinance.
This committee was officially created in 1945 as one of the original general assemblies since ECOFIN is also known as the Second Committee. ECOFIN is unique for its focus on the globalized economy and support nations financially. Its membership is open to all member states of the United Nations as one of the General Assemblies and follows the same parliamentary procedures as any other main organ of the United Nations. Thus, a total of 193 nations are represented in ECOFIN.
This year, you will be joined by Sri Ranganathan Palaniappan (Director) and Atharva Johri (Assistant Director) throughout your journey at ISM-MUN 2020. We firmly believe that MUNs provide a platform where delegates can push themselves outside their comfort zone, challenge themselves and their status quo, and attempt to formulate solutions regarding pressing issues that face our world. We shall strive to make this session very lively, competitive and enlightening.
Cheers to a fruitful committee session and wishing you all, the very best!
